    We would like to welcome you to Larry’s Cedar Resort.    Our resort is located just a short walking distance away from the Holland Dam located in upper zone 1.  We offer condo, stand alone cabins and motel units.
    The condo style units are two and three bedroom units that offer a separate living and kitchen area.   These units can accomodate 1 -9 people depending on availability.  All are fully furnished and awaiting your arrival..
    The cabins are two bedroom units with a separate living and kitchen area..  They also offer a screened in area to keep your fishing gear and coolers close to the car.  These units can accomodate up to six people.
    We also offer motel style units with a variety of bed arrangements..  These units will have a refrigerator and some have microwaves.   We do not allow cooking in these units, but we do have an outdoor area that has bbq grills for your use.

March 12, 2012  Stream Conditions

We received about a half inch of rain yesterday, but it was a slow soaker.   The stream is in great condition, a couple  inches above normal and clear in color.  The niangua river is about the same.  Good fishing in the river as they stocked about 500 fish here last friday the 9th of march.   Getting lots of reports of 14 to 15 inch fish here in the park.    As you may have heard, we had a tornado go through just before opening day.  It did some damage along highway 64 up by the fire station, but no damage within the state park.

Overall, fishing has been very good.

Cubic Feet per Second flow  170

Gauge Height = 2.16    This is about four inches over a normal stream height.

To prevent the spread of ‘Rock Snot’ please follow the following procedure:

Check:

Remove all visible clumps of algae and plant material from fishing gear, waders, equipment,  water shoes and sandals, canoes, and kayaks and anything else that has been in the water.

Clean:

Completely soak all your gear in one of the following:

  • 2% household bleach solution (1/3 cup per gallon water)
  • 5% saltwater solution (1 cup of salt per gallon water)
  • Solution of  Hot Water with Dishwashing Detergent.

Please make sure this includes waders, wading boots, flotation devices and any other soft items.

Dry:

Allow any item that has been in contact with the water to completely dry.

The item should be exposed to sunlight and left to dry for at least 48 hours.

Bennett Spring State Park has three different offices which offer specific services:

  • The park store and restaurant are operated by a private concessionaire.
  • The hatchery is operated by the Department of Conservation.
  • The park, campgrounds, and nature center are operated by the Department of Natural Resources.

Where do I go and how do I get there?

If  you need to purchase fishing equipment, camping supplies, groceries or get tips on what lure is working best, goto or contact Larry Sporting Goods at the East park entrance on Hwy 64A.  You can email larrys at larrys@bennettspring.com or submit a contact form.

If you need to purchase a fishing permit, daily tag, trout permit, go to the Lodge. The Lodge can be reached at (417)-532-4307.

Larry’s Cedar Resort has cabins and condo units for rent. For information regarding cabins and motels call 417-532-2356.

To get general information about the park, visit the Park office.  The Park office can be reached at (417)-532-2128.

The Park Ranger, Mr. Al Barton can be reached at 417-532-4338.

To be sure of fishing regulations, report a fishing violation, attend a hatchery tour, or feed the fish, see the folks at Bennett Spring State Fish Hatchery. The hatchery is located in the north end of the park next to the spring. The hatchery can be reached at (573) 847-2430.

To get information on park programs, get answers about the natural resources in the park, or to schedule special programs for groups, see the Nature Center. The Nature Center can be reached at (417)-532-3925.

    Registration is available at the Park Store from 7:00  pm Friday evening August 12th until

    The cost is $5.00 per fisherman.
